Staples Players Perform Book of Days

The show begins Thursday.

Staples Players presents a dramatic play by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Lanford Wilson, titled Book of Days, beginning Thursday.

The play is being directed by David Roth and Kerry Long and showcases the talents of 12 junior and senior year actors as they draw audience members into a mystery about family, community, power and greed.

Book of Days is set in a small town dominated by a cheese plant, a fundamentalist church, and a community theater. When the owner of the cheese plant dies, his bookkeeper Ruth suspects murder. Cast as Joan of Arc in a local theatre production, Ruth takes on the attributes of her fictional character and launches into a one-woman campaign to see that justice done. In Book of Days, Lanford Wilson creates characters that are remarkable both for their comic turns and enormous depth.
