Mark Cerulli scored 12 points and David Kingsley added nine points and 10 rebounds Friday as the Fairfield Ludlowe boys basketball team posted a 46-41 victory over .

The Falcons converted 17-of-23 free throws to snap a five-game losing streak and improve to 2-5.

Staples was only 4-of-10 from the line. The Wreckers have lost three of four and dropped to 2-4.

Mike Argosh scored 15 points, including four 3-pointers to lead the Wreckers, while James Frusciante added eight points.

Brianna Curran scored 14 points as the Fairfield Ludlowe girls basketball team posted a 55-40 victory over Staples.

Curran was one of four players in double figures for the Falcons. Pauline Blatt had 13 points and Sara Nesi and Katherine Madher chipped in with 10 apiece.

Ludlowe improved to 5-4 while Staple dropped its second straight and fell to 5-3.

Nikki Bukovsky scored 12 points to the lead the Wreckers. Jess Coelho and Erica Stein each added nine.

Fairfield Ludlowe opened a 13-7 lead after the first quarter and slowly extended its margin.

Nina Danforth scored two goals to lead the Trumbull-Staples girls hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Notre Dame of Fairfield.
