WHY: More than 230, 480 people in the United States will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer this year, (3280 in Connecticut) and 39, 520 will die (480 in Connecticut) from the disease. Last year, more than 10,000 walkers raised nearly $1 million dollars in Connecticut. Dollars raised from Making Strides are used by the Society to fuel the most promising research; to spread lifesaving breast cancer awareness messages; to advocate for screening opportunities for all people; and to ease the cancer burden for people facing the disease.
