Maritime Aquarium's World Oceans Day Celebration

In coordination with World Oceans Day, "Once and Future Oysters of Long Island Sound" will be presented at The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk Saturday and Sunday, June 12 and 13.

The following event listing appears on the World Oceans Day website:

  • Learn how Norwalk, Conn., once the oyster capital of the world, is making a play to regain its leadership status through modern oyster farming.
  • See how oysters are cultivated, grow, spawn and taste!

  • Readings of Seuss stories celebrate the 50th anniversary of "One Fish, Two Fish"
  • Tour the last wind powered oyster sloop on Long Island Sound

  • Enjoy some IMAX films celebrating the oceans
  • See the new "Go Fish!" exhibit with its 30,000 gallon tank teaming with the game fish of Long Island Sound
  • Visit the Sustainable Cafe and learn how to make good seafood choices to help keep the oceans healthy and productive.
