Walk for Wildlife Fundraiser at Earthplace

Earthplace, the Nature Discovery Center located in Westport, is holding Walk for Wildlife, its Second Annual Dog Walk event on Sunday, Sept. 26th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 10 Woodside Lane.

The two-mile fundraising event is a once-a-year opportunity for visitors to walk their dogs along the trails that run through the center's 85-acre wildlife sanctuary. Walk for Wildlife will take place rain or shine, with indoor space at Earthplace available in case of rain. The entry fee for the event is $15 for the first dog and $5 for an additional dog. Entry fees will be waived for sponsored walkers above the $50 level.

In addition to the nature walk, the event includes universal trail access or full two-mile trail walk; dozens of pet related vendors & exhibits; agility, search & rescue, and police dog demonstrations; Information on natural tick and flea control for pets; hot dog vendors and prizes for whole family and a silent auction. Rescue groups will also be on hand with dogs available for adoption.

Walk for Wildlife benefits the Wildlife Rehabilitation and Animal Care Programs at Earthplace, which help hundreds of injured birds and mammals each year, as well as the Animal Hall and Ambassador Animal programs.


Fairfield County Bank is the 2010 presenting sponsor. Triple S Carpet Cleaners, Southport Veterinary Center and Insight Tutors, LLC are sponsoring the special watering holes, providing treats for dogs and their owners. Space is still available for additional vendors and event sponsors.
