QUICK HITS

Tonight's FCIAC Championship game is the eighth for the Wreckers and first since 2007.

Staples last FCIAC Championship came in 2003 after a 35-0 win over Danbury at Boyle Stadium in Stamford.

A win tonight would give the Wreckers their sixth FCIAC Championship.

The Wreckers have lost their last two FCIAC title games.

• Staples lost to Greenwich 37-0 on Thanksgiving Day in 2007.

• In 2005, Staples suffered it's only loss of the season to Trumbull, 14-0, but went on to win it's second straight Class L Championship.

The Bridgeport Central Hilltoppers only other FCIAC title game appearance was a 43-27 loss to Greenwich in 2004.

Staples is ranked No. 2 in USA Today's Massey Ratings for Connecticut high school football.

Staples has beaten only three teams with winning records this season.

Defeated (8-1) Ridgefield 30-0

Defeated (5-4) Trumbull 34-0

Defeated (5-4) Fairfield Ludlowe 38-0

In defense, Staples is ranked No. 1 in USA Today's Massey Ratings. However, their schedule is rated the 60th toughest in Connecticut.

The Wreckers have five shutouts, and have not given up more than seven points all season.

Bridgeport Central's offense is ranked No. 14 by the Massy Ratings.
