GFA Boys Basketball Routs Stamford Academy

Westport's Brien Comey has 16 points and 11 rebounds in Dragons' 83-34 victory

Even without Greenwich's Sean Obi, the Greens Farms Academy boys basketball team had too much for Stamford Academy.

Kenyon College (Ohio) signee Brien Comey of Westport scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Dragons to an 83-34 victory Monday afternoon in Westport.

Obi, who ranks third in the nation in rebounding with 18.0 per game, was given the day off by GFA coach Doug Scott.

GFA freshman Zach Baines of Stamford registered his first double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and also blocked four shots.

Greenwich's Hunter Eggers added 12 points while Greenwich's Matt Tate, Darien's Patrick Ryan, New Haven's Tremont Waters and Bridgeport's Kam Mickens each added nine.

GFA's pressure defense resulted in 23 steals as the Dragons (8-3) built a 42-19 halftime lead.

Willie Rodriguez scored 11 points to lead Stamford Academy, which dropped to 3-8.
