GFA Boys Fall To Hamden Hall, 61-54

Dragons put up a good fight before coming short against the defending New England Prep school champions

The Greens Farms Academy boys basketball team put up a strong fight Wednesday before falling 61-54 to Hamden Hall, the defending New England Prep school champions.

Hamden Hall, which has everyone back from last year's team, also is the defending regular season and tournament champions in the Fairchester Athletic Association.

Sean Obi had 10 points and 13 rebounds for GFA (3-2, 2-2), which completed a stretch of playing five games in eight days, all on the road.

"They have all been together and winning at a high level for a couple of years now, whereas my guys have been playing games together for just a week now," GFA coach Doug Scott said. "I think that really showed up in the second half. They were just a little more certain as to what they needed to get done.”

Hunter Eggers scored 12 points and Tremont Waters added 10 for the Dragons, who led 31-27 at the half.

Greg Brown scored 18 points to pace Hamden Hall, which improved 3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Darren Payen added 17 and B.J. Davis chipped in with 16 for the hosts.

The game attracted a bevy of college scouts to see eight different players from the two schools.

Payen has eight Division I offers in hand and Brown just committed to New England College. GFA’s Brien Comey has committed to Kenyon College.
