GFA pulled within 32-30 at the half, then allowed just 12 points in the second half to pick up the win.

"To erase their first-half lead and momentum with Obi on the bench, and a ninth-grader (Stamford's Zach Baines) and a seventh-grader (New Haven's Tremont Waters) being a big part of our rally, just really had our guys revved up for the second half," GFA coach Doug Scott said.

Waters finished nine points and 10 rebounds while Baines scored eight points and grabbed 10 boards.

Westport's Brien Comey was huge on the glass with 16 rebounds while Greenwich's Hunter Eggers had 10 rebounds.

Greenwich's Matt Tate handed out 10 assists, the fifth time he has reached double figures this season.

While both teams struggled from the field, GFA's defense took over in the second half.

"To be able to hold that talented of a shooting team to only 12 points in the second half was just a huge statement toward our guys’ will-to-win," Scott said.

Darren O'Brien scored 18 points and Fairfield's Nolan Paige added 15 to pace Hopkins.

O'Brien drilled four 3-pointers and Paige made a pair of treys as they hurt the Dragons early with their long-range shooting. But GFA made some adjustments to stop the outside threat.

"Once they started missing contested shots, our superior length just dominated the boards," Scott added. "We seemed to get every miss."
