Hirschberg is joined by freshman teammate Cam Marco in the round of 16.

Two Staples players, led by top seed Daniel Hirschberg, have reached the third round in the CIAC Class LL boys state tennis tournament.

Hirschberg, who lost in the Class LL final last year, advanced to the round of 16 without losing a single game. The junior won his first two matches in the tournament by scores of 6-0, 6-0, and will face No. 15 seed Zach Nicklaus of Greenwich in his next match on Monday.

Staples freshman Cam Marco joined Hirschberg in the third round by defeating Ridgefield's Zachary Passman, 5-7, 7-6 (4), 6-0, on Saturday.  However, Marco, the No. 16 seed, has to take on No. 2 Tom O'Brien of Fairfield Prep next.
