Staples Boys' Lacrosse Remains Unbeaten
Wreckers defeat Trumbull, 13-6, to improve to 5-0 for the first time ever
The Staples boys' lacrosse team is quickly establishing itself as a contender in the FCIAC.
Junior Kip Orban recorded six goals and and an assist Tuesday, as the Wreckers handled Trumbull, 13-6, to improve to 5-0 for the first time in the program's history.
In their second season under coach Paul McNulty, the Wreckers have been on a roll since opening the season with an 11-10 overtime victory over defending FCIAC champion Ridgefield.

Charlie Ross and Kyle Mendelson each added two goals on Tuesday for Staples, which already has beaten two of the top teams in the FCIAC this season in Ridgefield and Greenwich.
Tuesday was not the first time Orban has been the hero for the Wreckers in a game this year. He scored five goals against Ridgefield, including the winner in overtime.

With Tuesday's win, Staples remained atop the FCIAC West Division and joins perennial powers New Canaan and Darien as the only FCIAC teams unbeaten in league play.
Interestingly, Staples doesn't play New Canaan or Darien this season, so it could benefit from a favorable schedule down the stretch.
The Wreckers step out of the FCIAC to play at Hall High School in West Hartford on Wednesday, then visit Stamford in a league contest on Friday.
