Staples' Andrew Gai won the Holohan invitational tournament, which serves as the FCIAC's individual championship, by shooting a 71 on Tuesday at the Country Club of Darien.
The senior was two shots better than St. Joseph's Ricky Dowling and three better than New Canaan's Brian Tohir and teammate Austin Ailaniello, who tied for third at 74.

Other top finishers for Staples included Brian Wolgast ( 78) and Kirk Massie (81).
The Staples boys placed fourth and the girls finished ninth Tuesday at the CIAC Class LL outdoor track and field championships.

Raphael Ray won the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.99, breaking the 24-year-old Class LL meet record while also setting a school mark. Staples also finished first in the 4x4 relay.
