The Greens Farms Academy boys basketball team dropped an 83-64 decision to Rye County Day on Thursday.
Patrick Ryan led the way for GFA with 20 points while recorded his 28th consecutive double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Seventh-grader Tremont Waters scored 15 points for the Dragons, who slipped to 1-1 on the young season.
Alex Gendelman had 27 points and Darren Douglas added 18 for Rye Country Day (3-1), which converted 22-of-31 free throws.

"We focused a ton on trying to reduce our fouls against them, but they are just very, very good at drawing the foul," GFA coach Doug Scott said. "We were like bears that could not resist reaching for the honey, no matter how many times we were getting stung.
“They played smarter than we did. They won. Kudos to them. If my team can learn from this, it will be a good loss. If not, it will be a bad loss”

The girls basketball team improved to 2-0 on Thursday with a 72-15 victory over Bassick.
Erica Stein led the way for the Wreckers with 17 points, five steals and three assists.
Jess Coelho added 13 points for the Wreckers, who jumped out to a 25-2 lead after the first quarter and a 39-5 advantage at the half.
Remy Nolan added eight points and seven assists for Staples.
