Coming off a huge win over Wilton, the girls basketball team looks to keep pace in the crowded FCIAC playoff race on Friday when the Wreckers host Westhill in a 7 p.m. start.
Staples snapped Wilton's five-game winning streak with a 53-48 victory over Tuesday. The win left the Wreckers (9-6, 8-5) in a six-way tie for sixth place in the FCIAC standings with Darien, Norwalk, Stamford, Westhill and Fairfield Warde.

That group will be paired to no more than four following Friday's action as Darien faces Norwalk. Warde has a tough game at Trinity Catholic, which holds the No. 5 spot, and Stamford takes on New Canaan.
The Wreckers very well may have saved their season on Tuesday. They trailed 48-41 with three minutes left, but outscored Wilton 12-0 over the final three minutes to snap a three-game losing streak.

Westhill, also 9-6 and 8-5, has won three in a row, including Tuesday's 54-37 victory over Greenwich.
On the boys side, Staples visits Westhill (7 p.m.), which is one of the hottest teams in the league.
On Tuesday, the Vikings outscored Danbury 82-77 for their fifth straight victory and showcased a lot of firepower. Samuel Dorissiant scored a career-high 28 points while Chris Walters added 22 and and Tony Dobbinson chipped in with 19.
Westhill improved to 9-4 overall and 7-4 in the FCIAC.
Staples (7-6, 6-5) snapped a two-game slide with a 54-51 win over Wilton on Tuesday. James Frusciante scored 17 points for the Wreckers and Michael Argosh added 12.

The deadline for the Connecticut Sports Writers’ Alliance Bohdan Kolinsky Memorial Journalism Scholarship is Monday, Feb. 6.
The scholarship is open to Connecticut high school seniors who aspire to careers in sports journalism. Named for the longtime scholastic sports editor of the Hartford Courant who passed away in 2003, the award provides the winner $1,000 for freshman-year college study and a chance to receive increased aid in succeeding years by meeting certain standards
