The girls basketball team, which is trying to nail down an FCIAC playoff spot, has a tough test on Friday as the Wreckers visit defending league champion Trumbull (7 p.m.).
Staples (10-7, 9-6) is coming off a 45-35 loss to undefeated Danbury, but is still tied for seventh place in the FCIAC standings with Darien, Stamford and Fairfield Warde.

Friday completes Staples' gauntlet against the FCIAC's two top teams. The schedule is much more favorable next week as' the Wreckers finish with Greenwich and Staples -- two teams they should defeat.
Trumbull (15-2, 13-2) is coming off a 53-43 win over Ridgefield and is trying to wrap up the No. 2 seed for the upcoming FCIAC playoffs.

The Staples boys also are fighting for an FCIAC playoff spot and host Trumbull at 7 p.m.
The Wreckers are coming off a solid 64-54 victory over Danbury on Tuesday that lifted them into a four-way tie for eighth in the standings with the Hatters, Fairfield Warde and Stamford.
Peter Rankowitz scored 17 points in the win over Danbury while James Frusciante added 15.
Trumbull (7-8, 6-7) is coming off Tuesday's 66-41 loss to Ridgefield and could be eliminated from FCIAC contention with another loss.
