Peter Rankowitz paced a balanced attack with 17 points Tuesday as the boys basketball earned an important victory with a 64-54 win over Danbury in Westport.
James Frusciante added 15 points for the Wreckers, who improved to 8-7 overall and 7-6 in the FCIAC.

Four players scored in double figures for Staples, which is fighting for an FCIAC playoff spot, as Michael Argosh contributed 13 points and Ross Whelan chipped in with 10.
Staples jumped out to a 23-16 lead after the first quarter. Danbury outscored the Wreckers 13-10 in the second period to pull within 33-29 at the intermission.

But Staples maintained the lead by outscoring the Hatters 31-25 in the second half.
DanyJoel Harris 20 points to lead the Hatters, who dropped to 8-7 and 7-6. JJ Jackson and Elijah Mourning each added 10 points for Danbury.

The Staples girls basketball team dropped a 45-35 decision to unbeaten Danbury on Tuesday.
Jess Coelho scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Wreckers, who dropped to 10-7 overall and 9-6 in the FCIAC.
Rachel Gartner and Rachel Gartner each had 14 points for Danbury, which improved to 17-0 and 14-0.
Staples stayed close throughout, only trailing 9-5 after the first quarter and 20-13 at the intermission.
The Hatters then outscored the Wreckers 9-5 in the third period to take a 29-18 lead into the final period.
The loss left Staples in a four-way for seventh in the FCIAC standings with Stamford, Darien and Fairfield Warde with three games left in the regular season.
