When an 18-foot-tall water slide appears in a neighbor’s yard, at summer camps or for fundraising events, it might be thanks to Innovative Inflatables.
The company serves New England and the tri-state area with an inventory of more than 200 pieces, including bouncers, slides and obstacle courses.
Evan Taback Entertainment is the current owner of Innovative Inflatables, which began in Simsbury. In 2006 when the company changed ownership, it moved to Rocky Hill and continued to grow.
Justin Rehm, manager of Innovative Inflatables, said the owner also runs another company called Boppers Events.
This time of year, when summer hits and the sun is out, it’s all about the water slides, Rehm said.
This is the busy season, and the schedule is full of fairs, fundraisers, backyard parties, charity events, camps and birthday parties.
One of the more well-known events for Innovative Inflatables is Simsbury’s Septemberfest. Rehm said they’ve been bringing in more pieces each year as the fest has gotten bigger. The company is planning to provide about 30 pieces to the 2014 fest, scheduled for September 7, with a variety of inflatables to accommodate families and children as young as two.
He said they have the business “down pat,” but there are always challenges when planning around different houses and landscapes.
“We deliver fun,” Rehm said. “Our truck pulls up and a bunch of kids start oohing and ahhing at a giant water slide. We come back at the end of the day and the kids are still on it, six or seven hours later.”
Talla Mrazik, a Wolcott resident, is a customer relations and sales representative for Innovative Inflatables, though she said all the employees pitch in with everything. She’s been working for the company for about three years, and she said it’s definitely a fun job.
“It’s hard to work in this kind of environment and not have fun,” Mrazik said. “It’s a family oriented business, and we’re big for what we do. We’re the largest bounce house company in the area, but it still has that family-owned kind of feeling.”
Mrazik agreed that the water slides are in high demand at this time of year, and she said the standard bouncers and character-themed pieces are popular as well.
