What's Open, What's Closed in Westport for Fourth of July
Here's a list of closings for Independence Day, as well as what businesses will remain open for the holiday.
Heres a list of what's open and what's closed in observance of Independence Day:
CLOSED:
- Town government offices are closed and will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, July 5.
- The Transfer Station and Yard Waste & Brush Dump closed and will reopen at 7 a.m. on Friday.
- The Westport Library will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday and remain closed on Independence Day. It will reopen at 9 a.m. Friday.
- The Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles service centers are closed and will reopen at 7:45 a.m. on Friday.
- All United States Postal Service offices are closed and will reopen on Friday.
- State and federal government offices are closed and will reopen Friday.
- Some small businesses in town will be closed Thursday. Call ahead to see if your favorite business will be open or closed on 4th of July or for the weekend.
- Many restaurants and businesses -- especially big-box retailers -- remain open on July 4. Call ahead to see if your favorite business or eatery is open. Business owners -- let us know in the comments section if you will be open or closed on Independence Day and for the weekend.
- Grocery and package stores
- TD Bank (including the three locations in Westport) will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Most other banks are closed.
Metro-North has announced it will "have plenty of early getaway trains on Wednesday, July 3. On July 4, we’ll run a Sunday schedule with additional trains to get you to the Macy’s fireworks display, and on Friday, July 5, we’ll run a Saturday schedule with extra service." See full details here.
Greater Bridgeport Transit buses will be running on a Sunday schedule on Independence Day.
CT Transit in Stamford will operate on a Sunday schedule.
The Norwalk Transit District's Wheels buses won't be running on Independence Day.
