Instant Gratification

Instant gratification. We've all been conditioned to receive it.

We’ve been told by marketers and pseudo-experts that it’s possible.

Not only possible, but entirely deserved.

Why take the long, hard path, the road less traveled when you can take the instant approach?

Want to lose 10 pounds by Summer? Take a fat burner, get some cosmetic surgery and you’re GOOD.

Want to become a [insert occupation here]? Take a weekend course, get certified, people will come running to you.

Want to fix your health issues, live a longer life and have energy all day? Take a pill, you’ll be fine.

When we start expecting instant gratification, we are doomed to fail and fail miserably.

People believe they can reverse 15 years of bad food choices, chronic stress, lack of sleep, 5 nights of drinking a week in…

4 weeks?

8 weeks?

a Summer?

Nope. No chance. Hell no. Anyone that says so is a liar and you should run.

It’s going to take TIME. That means a minimum of 6 months. And for most that means 18 months. And for even more it may mean 24 months.

People ask me all the time “How long until I see changes? See, I got a Wedding, Summer Party, etc…”

You’ll see changes, no doubt. You will start gaining muscle. You will lose fat relatively quickly. The more you adhere to the nutrition, stress and lifestyle factors, the faster it comes. Clothes become looser. The reflection on the mirror starts to look different, way different…

But unless you’re wedding is in 2014, then don’t think you will hit all your goals by then.

It takes time, and it takes patience.

I really like this (long) quote from Jason Ferrugia of Renegade:

Getting in shape is brutally hard work.

I don’t give a shit what all the scam artists and marketing scumbags tell you. If you can’t handle the truth then you’re destined to be soft and weak forever.

If you’re twenty percent body fat right now and desperately want a six pack you had better be prepared to diet your face off and work harder than you ever have in your entire life.

When everyone is drinking beer at the football tailgate party on Sunday you’re drinking a gallon of water. And when the hot dogs go on the grill, you’re gonna have to pull out a chicken breast and broccoli.

That’s what it’s about. Blunt and honest, but true.

At Aspire, I offer GUARANTEED results. But I don’t give a time frame. You must invest your time, your efforts, etc in your nutrition and lifestyle factors. Training 3 hours a week won’t cut it. Training 3 hours a week and being diligent outside the gym 18 hours a day will.

Dropping processed foods and carbohydrate is great…unless you’re still drinking a bottle of wine every night.
