The Ken-Ducky Derby of Westport

The Great Duck Race of 2010 attracted hundreds.

Westport's Sunrise Rotary Club hosted its second annual Great Duck Race on Saturday that attracted hundreds and resulted in 10 winners.

About 3,000 rubber ducks were loaded into the Saugatuck River in downtown Westport around 4 p.m.

About 45 minutes later, with the wind and the tide working against them, the leading 10 ducks had made their way to the finish line.

As Westporters cheered, Rotarians ran through Parker Harding Plaza with the winning ducks in hand.

The Great Duck Race is one of the Sunrise Rotary's largest fundraisers and proceeds from the duck sales went toward supporting almost 60 long-standing Westport, Norwalk and Bridgeport charities as well as international aid efforts.
