Beliefs
At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible and human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal certain key beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable.

This disclosure is not a license for our editors to inject these beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that our beliefs are on the record will force us to be ever mindful to write, report, and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you, the user, ever think you see evidence that we failed in this mission, we wholeheartedly invite you to let us know.

Politics

  • How would you describe your political beliefs?

I have voted for candidates of both Republican and Democratic parties. When deciding whom to vote for, I focus on what a candidate intends to accomplish and how he or she plans to improve the community in which I live.

Religion

  • How religious would you say you are? Casual, observant, devout, non-religious?

I'm an observant Catholic and currently serving as a sponsor for my sister's confirmation.

Local Hot Button Issues

  • What do you think are the most important issues facing the community?

I'm still learning but it seems Westporters are concerned with the economy and its effects on the upcoming budget process, finding ways to live green and enhance the area's environmental protection and maintaining a high quality of life for all residents.

Where do you stand on each of these issues?

Since I'm still new to Westport, I have plenty to learn on these and other issues. But in general,  all community concerns require thoughtful discussion. I'm happy to listen to any and all ideas.

Patch,
Thank you for running the article about restaurant week. Some friends and I decided to check out : The Blue Lemon. The food was excellent. The sevice was attentive with enough time in between each course so as not to feel rushed.
If we hadn't caught the article we may not have had such a wonderful experience... another great job by the "Patch-Patrol".

Thanks Liz! I'll send some sun rays your way. I may have inadvertently taken them in my December move from New Canaan.

Hi Liz,
Loved the article about restaurant week. Will be visiting Westport in two weeks, can't wait to have a spectacular dinner with the fam at a special place. Keep up the good work!
