Westport Little League All-Stars Play First World Series Game Thursday

Westport Little League, which won a thrilling game Saturday to reach the Little League World Series, will play Nashville, Tenn. on Thursday.

The Westport Little League All-Stars, representing Connecticut and the New England region, will play its first game in the national Little League World Series on Thursday at 7 p.m. EST, Little League Baseball announced.

The 12 and under boys will play Nashville, Tenn., winner of the Southeast regionals. The game will be telecast on ESPN2.

To reach the annual Little League Classic, Westport won a thrilling 1-0 game Saturday over Lincoln, R.I., behind a dominant pitching performance by Chad Knight. In addition to 14 strikeouts, Knight also drove in the team's only run.

If Westport wins on Thursday, they will play on Sunday against the winner of the Southwest vs. Northwest game, which will also be held on Thursday.

Should Westport lose its Thursday game, the team will face the loser of that Thursday Southwest/Northwest game.
