Saugatuck Station Set to Reopen Following Major Renovation

The eastbound Saugatuck Railroad Station will reopen to the public Friday following a major renovation that took place throughout last year.

The station was restored using original lumber, lighting fixtures and windows. Two new handicap accessible bathrooms were installed along with new heating and cooling. Included with the updates to the building were solar panels installed on the roof, which will supply electricity to the building and to four electric vehicle-charging stations, according to First Selectman Jim Marpe.

“The station was restored with the intentions of improving the commuting experience and with completion of the coffee concession at the Saugatuck Station, the building is now ready to be open to the public,” said Marpe.
