'The Ability to Drive is a Privilege, Not a Right'

FAIRFIELD: "This is a great opportunity for the arts community, business community, non-profits, and town government to conduct a public forum on how best to take in different points of view. Perhaps The Fairfield Chamber of Commerce could spearhead this town-wide conversation. They have broad and deep experience in forging coalitions, respecting others' points of view, and a track record of performance in presenting and implementing strong action plans." FAIRFIELD: "You are all forgetting one thing: The ability to drive in the state of CT, or any state for that matter, is considered a privilege and not a right. Therefore, it is not covered by the Constitutional Amendments. Furthermore, DUI is a violation of traffic law and not criminal law, thus a probation officer does not come into play. If a person chooses to be a habitual drunk driver then this device could saves many lives, including the life of your loved ones should they fall victim to these killers (drunk drivers)." NORWALK: "Before we get too critical about how highly paid our police officers are, we need to think how many hours of overtime, at time and a half, officers like Oulette work to earn almost triple the base salary. The city routinely keeps a significant number of authorized police positions unfilled and uses officers working overtime to make up part of the unfilled positions. Somebody figured out a long time ago that saves money. Oulette probably works about a hundred hours a week. None of that overtime increases his pension.
