                        The artists included in the show are:  Cathy Choi; Molly Herman;

Kevin Kelly; Nancy Lasar; Eleanor Miller; Paul Shakespear and Xin Song.

Work will rotate throughout the summer with a revolving selection of art as the weeks progress.

                        Cathy Choi manipulates resins to form waves and rises. Water is her inspiration, but the paintings have their own vitality and life.  Her works have have a fluid luminosity and rhythm.  They are rich in color with a spiritual essence.  They are paintings, but they have a three dimensional quality.

                        The subject of Molly Herman’s paintings exists between the language of abstraction and representation of experience.  Pattern, rhythm, alchemy of language, poetry and music all combine to inspire Herman’s colorful and gestural paintings.

                        Kevin Kelly’s creates elegant poured concrete figures.  His sculptures are abstract female forms in the classic modernist tradition.  Several of his works have recently been acquired for the new building at the NYU Langone Medical Center.

                        Nancy Lasar’s paintings and works on paper involve layering and energizing space.  The works are fluid, interrelated and full of energy.  Memory and imagination inspire a playful spontaneity.  Lines, marks, media intermingle in her multiple realities.

                        Eleanor Miller’s paintings are layered canvases of abstract landscapes.  She creates lyrical scenes of nature punctuated by birds, drips and unexpected color.

                        Paul Shakespear’s paintings are glossy surfaces that invite you to look at them and also through them.  He paints layers of acrylic which are later glazed to create a shiny and water-like surface.

                        Xin Song borrows pictures from magazines, cuts and collages them so that the sources are unrecognizable.  The motifs she creates are beautiful and invite viewers to explore her private world with great interest

                        Summer Rotation 2012 is on view from July 25th through September 1st.  Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 to 5:30 p.m.  For further information, please call 203-259-1500.
