Westport Resources Raises $55,000 for Fairfield County Community Foundation

Westport Resources, a leading independent investment and financial planning firm serving individuals, families, municipalities and institutions around the world, is very pleased to announce that its inaugural Charity Golf Classic, held Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at The Connecticut Golf Club, raised $55,000 for Fairfield County Community Foundation (FCCF). Westport Resources underwrote the entire cost of the event, allowing 100 percent of the funds raised to be contributed directly to FCCF.

Juanita James, president and CEO of FCCF, said:  “In all of my years of involvement with nonprofit fundraising events, I have never encountered a host who insisted on giving an organization 100 percent of the proceeds. Westport Resources’ extraordinary generosity and enthusiasm for the work we do is deeply appreciated.”

John Vaccaro, founder and CEO of Westport Resources, said: “FCCF is a wonderful organization that provides much-needed support to many nonprofits in our community. I am very impressed with the leadership Juanita and the dedicated staff at FCCF are engaged in delivering which is why I am confident that the funds we raised will be leveraged to best fulfill the most urgent needs in Fairfield County.”

The Charity Golf Classic kicked off at 11 a.m. with special guest Michael Breed giving a “full swing” presentation to all participants. Breed is host of the signature Golf Channel program, “The Golf Fix,” and recipient of the 2012 PGA Teacher of the Year Award. He and J. Rodney Loesch, the #2 teaching professional in Connecticut, were on hand throughout the day to mingle with golfers and offer helpful tips.

A golf scramble began at noon with grilled lunch provided at the turn. At each hole golfers also participated in a contest to answer quiz questions about Fairfield County’s needs.  The foursome with the most correct answers won a $5,000 grant from FCCF to contribute to a local charity of its choice. Following the scramble golfers were met with hors d’oeuvres, dinner and awards.
