Parks & Rec Commission to meet; young innovators to share their ideas at TEDx Conference; "Suddenly Last Summer" opens at Westport Country Playhouse and more.

  • The Parks and Recreation Commission will meet at 9 a.m. in Town Hall Room 201. The commission will vote on a proposal to allow the Longshore Men’s Golf Association to use of the Longshore Golf Course for an event, to be held on Sept. 22, to benefit the , which is raising funds for a new halfway house near the ninth hole.
  • Young innovators from Westport’s will share their ideas during the TEDx Conference at 10 a.m. at the . Presenters will include: Isaac Stein, Staples '12, who will discuss investigative reporting in a new media world; Logan Rosen, Staples '12, who will talk about living a technologically-integrated life; Adam Yomark, Staples '11, who will talk about the Staples Cares (for senior citizens) initiative he founded; and Carson Einarsen, Staples '12, who will present his Faces art project, where he drew a face a day for a year. TEDxWestportLibrary is spearheaded by Ben Meyers, Staples ’11. While at Staples, Meyers ran the radio station and was head of Ecofest.
