5 Things All About Westport: June 28

Westport Community Band at Levitt Pavilion, ZBA meeting, "Teen Anime Night" at the Westport Library and more.

  • Show tunes, marches, a little pop, and some classical will be on the program when the Westport Community Band performs 8 to 9:30 p.m.. tonight, at the Levitt Pavilion, 40 Jesup Road. The 60-piece concert band, under the direction of Sal LaRusso, director of bands for Weston High School, is comprised of adult musicians from Fairfield and Westchester Counties of varying professional backgrounds and musical experiences. The concert is free and open to the public.
  • The Zoning Board of Appeals will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall auditorium. The board will be considering variances for properties at 69 Main Street, 5 Appletree Trail, 1 Crooked Mile Road, and 374 Post Road East.
  • The Westport Library will host “Teen Animé Night” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Content for this program will be largely driven by the participants. Teens can explore anime and manga in a variety of formats. Bring items from your personal collection and browse what the Library has to offer. No registration necessary.   • Did you know that the turns 80 this year? To celebrate the rich history of this cultural landmark, the , 20 Jesup Rd, has put together an exhibit featuring posters, playbills, set designs, and other memorabilia from the theater’s first 80 years. The exhibit runs through July 31.
  • The works of local students who entered into the , co-sponsored by the Westport Sunrise Rotary and the Westport Public Library, continue to be on display in the Library’s 1st-floor Riverwalk hallway this week. Students from Westport and Weston were invited to design a poster involving the Rotary’s “4-Way Test” of ethical behavior, which asks four questions of what we think, say, or do: 1) Is it the truth? 2) Is it fair to all concerned? 3) Will it build good will and better friendships? 4) Will it be beneficial to all concerned? The exhibit is on display through June. .
