Letter: Garten is a Real Leader
Westport resident submits letter in support of First Selectman candidate.

Helen Garten is an amazing person. I first met her in 2003, when she was elected to the RTM. She undertook difficult assignments that involved understanding and explaining very complex subjects, like the property revaluation process. When she had to present her findings, she did it with a clarity that left us in awe. No beating around the bush, no hemming or hawing, just direct answers.
Had she remained on the RTM, I am confident Helen would have assumed leadership responsibilities. Instead, she was twice elected to the Board of Finance, where she has been a real leader -- as a member, chair and vice chair -- keeping the Board focused and on target.
If we want a First Selectman who knows how Westport works and who can make it work better, vote for Helen Garten on Nov. 5. She will be an excellent First Selectman.
