Letter: Support Whitney for School Board

There are two reasons to vote for Elaine Whitney for Board of Ed. The first is that she’s effective. As Board of Ed Chair, she led a budget process that resulted in no cuts to the school budget for only the second time in anyone’s memory. That was because of Elaine’s thorough preparation and her nonpartisan, collegial approach to the RTM and to the Republican-led Board of Finance.  

The second reason is that she’s tough. While always respectful, Elaine is arguably the most critical thinker of what the administration puts forward.  Her goal is not to do what’s right for the administration. She has a laser-like focus on what’s best for students, and sometimes that means pushing back and standing firm.

If you do nothing else on election day, vote for Elaine Whitney and running mate Brett Aronow for Board of Ed.
