Westport voters have an opportunity to meet Republican candidates for Board of Selectman, Board of Finance, Board of Education, Probate Judge, Zoning Board of Appeals, and several others at the GOP Campaign Headquarters Open House this weekend.
The open house wine and cheese event is slated for Sunday, Oct. 13 at 4 p.m. at 251 Riverside Ave., Westport.
“The Republican team, lead by First Selectman candidate Jim Marpe and Second Selectman candidate Avi Kaner, are an extremely qualified and talented group of public servants, and Westport will undoubtedly benefit from their leadership during these uncertain times,” said Westport Republican Party Chairwoman Desiree Soli. “This event presents a wonderful opportunity for voters to meet the candidates in a relaxed and fun environment so they can exchange ideas and discuss the issues in advance of this important election.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring food pantry donations for Homes with Hope’s Gillespie Center. The GOP will be collecting donations for the organization at Republican Party headquarters throughout the campaign season.
“We are also excited to help collect food pantry items and donations for Homes with Hope,” said Soli. “They are a wonderful organization that does terrific work in the community, and we are delighted to aid their efforts on behalf of those in need.”
Among the items that the organization is requesting are: Breakfast cereal (hot or cold), powdered milk, canned fruit, peanut butter, jelly or jam, canned soup, chili or stew, coffee or tea, pasta sauce, dry pasta, macaroni and cheese, rice, tuna or other canned meat, canned vegetables, pancake, cake, muffin, cookiemix, salad dressing/marinade, and powdered drink mix. Financial donations are also accepted, with checks made out to Homes with Hope.
