The Productive Writer: Developing the Writing Habit

Would you like to have more time to write? Would you like to produce more writing on a daily, weekly or monthly basis? Do you love to write but hate what happens when you sit down at the screen or page and nothing comes? In this seminar you’ll reenergize your writing in the New Year and learn how to become a more productive writer. Whether you are just beginning to write or are an experienced author, this course will help you recognize and reach your 2014 writing goals.

Relevant to writers of all genres, we’ll discuss specific strategies designed to lift the quality and quantity of your writing--even if you’re stuck, blocked or in a state of “writer’s avoidance.”

Some topics included are maintaining a writer’s journal, understanding the four stages of writing, reevaluating the revision process and “getting to finished.” As well as goal setting, developing the “writing habit,” generating ideas, and using writing prompts.

The course is based on writing strategies culled from dozens of books and online resources; a comprehensive handout is included. In addition to our discussion, there will be three ten minute exercises, so bring your notebook and get ready to set yourself on the perfect writer’s path for the New Year.
