Westport Historical Society Presents Mary Ann Hall In Concert: Peace To The World

Kids and their families can express their oneness with people everywhere
on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. at a “We Are the World”-style holiday concert at
the Westport
Historical Society.

The sing-along, presented by Mary Ann Hall’s Music for Children program,
will feature Christmas, Hanukkah and other songs of the season accompanied by
musicians from MFC on guitar, harp, keyboard and flute.

The intimate setting of the WHS’s Sheffer Gallery will allow guest
families and performers to enjoy “an up-close and beautiful sharing” of holiday
songs, music educator Hall said.

This year’s ninth edition of MFC’s Christmas concerts at the Westport Historical
Society will celebrate the themes of “peace, gratitude and kindness,” the
society’s executive director, Susan Gold, said.

Hall, who holds a master’s degree from the U of Mich., founded Music for
Children 40 years ago on the principle that “the child is the instrument.” The
mission, she said, is to prepare that child for a lifelong appreciation of
music’s beauty.

MFC’s programs are age-specific, from the Rock-a-Bye Baby Bunch for
newborns and infants up to a Kaleidoscope musical theater class for kids 10 to
14. Hall said children from the kindergarten program through the theater
program, as well as faculty members, will perform at this year’s concert.

Tickets are $25 for families, $8 for adult non-members, $6 for adult
members, $5 for children 12 and under, and free for kids 2 and under.
