CT Assistant Attorney General Kim Mathias to Speak to Sunrise Rotary

Connecticut Assistant Attorney General Kim Mathias will speak on child welfare and advocacy in Connecticut at Westport Sunrise Rotary's breakfast meeting at 7:30 a.m. Friday at Bobby Q's Restaurant, 42 Main Street, Westport.   Guests are welcome to attend.  There is a $12 fee for breakfast.

In her capacity as an Assistant Attorney General, Mathias represents the Department of Children and Families in child abuse and neglect cases in court.

Originally from Edmonton, Canada, Mathias moved with her family to Connecticut from California in 2001.  She has been a lawyer for more than 25 years, licensed to practice in Alberta, California and Connecticut.  She has been with the Attorney General's office since 2002 and is the supervising Assistant Attorney General in Waterbury.  Mathias lives in Westport with her husband, Mark, and two children.

The Sunrise Rotary Westport Club is known as an engaging and fun group of business, professional and community leaders who give their talent, time and money to doing good work on community and international social causes.  There are two community fundraising events, the Great Duck Race in June and a Wine Tasting in October.  Working both independently of and in conjunction with our neighboring Rotary Club of Westport, financial assistance is provided to local area social service organizations as well as to projects with international Rotary partners in countries such as Brazil, Egypt, Guatemala, Haiti, India and Zimbabwe. As one of 33,000 Rotary Clubs worldwide, Westport Sunrise Rotary joins in Rotary International's partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to continue the organization's goal of eradicating polio worldwide.
