'Steve Obsitnik – The Right Man for the Job'

A letter to the editor from former Westport Board of Education member Kristin LaFleur.

Dear Editor,

I am writing to encourage voters to join me in voting for Steve Obsitnik on November 6.

Our nation faces growing deficits covered by an ever increasing national debt, stagnant job growth, and a record number of Americans in poverty.  Gas and home heating oil prices are over $4.00 a gallon, which increases the price of commuting, heating our homes, and even drives up the cost of feeding our families.  Sadly, this places the greatest burden on those poor and middle class families who have been hardest hit by this stagnant economy.  In the past, deep recessions have been followed by sharp recoveries.  Unfortunately, that is not the case today as Washington is more focused on demonizing job-creators rather than helping unleash the entrepreneurial spirits that in the past made us the economic envy of the world and served as a beacon to generations of immigrants seeking to find a better life for themselves and their families.  Now more than ever we need representatives in Washington with fresh ideas, who know how to create jobs, build a consensus, and are committed to a brighter future for our nation.  Steve Obsitnik will be just that kind of Congressman.

As a CEO in the technology industry, Steve has balanced budgets and created jobs.  He knows what it takes to grow a thriving businesses and how misguided policies from Washington stand in the way.  As a former naval officer, he knows about leadership and seeing a mission through.  A lackluster economic recovery isn’t “good enough” for Steve and he will work hard to help put us back on the road to economic prosperity.  Steve will reach across the aisle when needed to build a consensus and help put our country back on track.  Steve grew up in Stamford and after his time in the Navy and Silicon Valley he has returned here with his family.  Steve knows the value of education and how important it is to voters in our district and how important it is to our nation’s future.

Our nation can regain its economic footing, but that won’t happen without the right kind of leadership in Washington.  Steve Obsitnik is the right kind of leader to represent Connecticut’s 4th District in Congress.
