Blotter: Borrowed Clothes Disturbance, Hit and Run

Arrests from Jan. 14-17.

The following arrest information was provided by the Westport Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

A domestic disturbance stemming from borrowed clothes resulted in one arrest and some damaged property on Jan. 14. According to the report, Stephanie Bernier, 20, of Lees Lane was involved in an argument about the borrowed clothes. Bernier allegedly created a disturbance and damaged some of her friend’s property. She was released on a promise to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on Jan. 24.

A Westport woman involved in a hit and run accident on the Sherwood Island Connector was charged with driving under the influence. According to the report, Eileen Woodley, 47, of Hockanum Road, hit another vehicle on the night of Jan. 15. The other driver got her license plate number and police arrested her as she was arriving home. She failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. Woodley’s bail was set at $1,000 and she is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on Jan. 25.

 A Westport man was arrested for sleeping in a vacant home that did not belong to him. James McPartland, 44, of North Sylvan Road, was charged with second-degree criminal trespass. He was released on a promise to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on Jan. 26.

John Stanton, 49, of Stamford, was arrested on Jan. 16 at 9:09 p.m. on charges of driving under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane. According to the report, Stanton was seen speeding and swerving on Saugatuck Avenue. He was pulled over and failed field sobriety tests. His bail was set at $500 and he is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on Jan. 24.

Rares Schulman, 19, of Fairfield, was arrested on Jan. 17 at 12:24 a.m. o n a charge possession of marijuana. According to the report, Schulman was stopped on Weston Road for having a load exhaust. The officer detected an odor off marijuana coming rom inside the vehicle, and a search revealed a small amount of marijuana inside the center console. Schulman was released on a promise to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on Jan. 27.
