The Westport Fire Department responded to a brush fire at the intersection of Imperial Avenue and Harbor View Road Wednesday evening, reports Assistant Fire Chief Robert E. Yost.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire in the woods at the top of the hill burning an area about 25 square feet. A hose line was stretched and firefighters immediately extinguished the flames, Yost said in a news release.
The area surrounding the fire was wet down to prevent a re-kindle of fire. The fire was in an area where tree crews had been cutting wood and the cause remains "undetermined" Yost said.
