Cut Gas Line Quickly Resolved

Firefighters covered a gas company crew with hoselines while the gas supply was cut off.

From a Westport Fire Dept. News Release Prepared by Assistant Chief Robert Yost:

Firefighters responded to a gas line rupture at the Birchwood Country Club, 25 Kings Highway South, at 1:08 p.m. Monday, after a backhoe severed the line. Fire Department personnel immediately evacuated the area and Engine Company 4 set up hose lines in case the gas ignited.

Engine Company 2 obtained a continuous water supply from the nearest hydrant while the department's truck company members metered and evacuated nearby structures.
