Fire Department: Please Check Your CO2, Smoke Detectors
Even if you don't think you need to check your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors, just make the Westport Fire Department happy and do it. They're the ones who'd enter your burning home, after all.
In the wake of two recent fire tragedies; one that took two lives in Fairfield on Monday, March 10, and a second that took three lives in West Haven on March 11, the Westport Fire Department strongly encourages all residents to check the operation of their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
If any resident is in need of assistance with changing detector batteries or installing new ones, they may call 203-341-5010 to arrange for someone to come to their home to do so (no fee).
Recently the Westport Fire Department fought a stubborn fire at the Harvest Commons condominium complex. Fortunately, the occupants were alerted to the fire by an operating smoke detector that had been installed by firefighters the year before, averting a potential tragedy.

The United States Fire Administration in their Civilian Residential Fire Fatality Notice states that since January 1, 2014, there have been 766 civilian fire casualties in the United States.
