Just Out of the Military, New Mexico Man, 29, Busted for Drugs, Weapons

Routine traffic stop results in multiple charges including carrying a gun without a permit, illegal possession of marijuana, having weapons in a motor vehicle, carrying a dangerous weapon, possession narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Saturday, Dec. 28, Todd Williams, 29, of Santa Fe, New Mexico was stopped by Norwalk Police for failure to use a turn signal an illegal u-turn on West Avenue. According to police, Williams appeared nervous and moved his hands toward his Jeep Cherokee's center console, where a folding knife was visible. 

Police retrieved a spring loaded knife which is illegal in Connecticut and placed Williams in handcuffs. Williams stated to police that his registration and insurance paperwork were "left at home." Inside the car's glove box police located an expired California pistol permit and a Glock 19 handgun loaded with 15 rounds, along with a digital scale and 15.8 grams of marijuana, several medical cannabis containers and an expired military identification. 

Williams was charged with multiple offenses including carrying a gun without a permit, illegal possession of marijuana, having weapons in a motor vehicle, carrying a dangerous weapon, possession narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as failing to signal a turn and illegal U-turn. He has a court date scheduled for Jan. 9, 2014.
