Police Blotter: Fireworks Assault

Town resident accused of bumping her car into Rec & Park employee directing traffic at fireworks show.

Arrest Synopsis

Arlene Yolles, 66, of 24 Richmondville Ave., Westport, was arrested Friday night on a charge of reckless driving.

Her husband, Martin Yolles, 68, of the same address, was arrested at the same time, charged with breach of peace.

Bicycle officers working the town's fireworks show were flagged down by a Parks and Recreation staff member who reported that another staff member was assaulted while directing traffic.

A description of the vehicle and its license plate registration were broadcast, and an officer on a motorcycle found the vehicle and detained its occupants.

It was alleged that the driver, Arlene Yolles, honked her horn and bumped her vehicle into the town employee while she was directing traffic. During the alleged incident, Martin Yolles was said to have exited the car and shoved her.

The victim was not injured.

Based on her alleged dangerous actions, police said, Arlene was charged with reckless driving. She was released on a promise to appear in court July 7.

Police said Martin Yolles was charged with breach of peace for allegedly shoving the parks employee. He also was released on a promise to appear in court July 7.

Arrest Synopsis:

Thomas Holyfield, 28, of 469 Westport Ave., Norwalk, was arrested Friday on a warrant for failing to appear in court.

Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person knocking on the door of a Belaire Drive residence. Officers found Holyfield in the road, and a computer check found he had an outstanding warrant for second-degree failure to appear in court.

The original charge against him was third-degree criminal mischief in Norwalk in September 2009.

Holyfield was held in lieu of posting a $5,000 bond.
