Police Blotter: Larcenies and DUIs

Police reports from Sept. 17-19.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Westport Police Department. It does not indicate convictions.

After allegedly stealing and using a friend's credit card, Christine Anthony, 24, of Hamden, was arrested on Sept. 17 and charged with theft of a credit card, illegal use of a credit card and fifth-degree larceny. According to the report, Westport police were informed that Anthony was in custody at the Cheshire Police Department and she was apprehended there. Her bail was set at $25,000 and she is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 27.

A Fairfield woman was arrested after trying to buy $4,600 worth of merchandise in downtown Westport with bad checks. According to the report, Macej Raszczyk-Lawski, 29, was wanted for allegedly passing the checks in June and July. She was arrested at Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 13 and charged with two counts of issuing a bad check and third-degree larceny. Her bail was set at $5,500.

Daniel Palencia, 19, of Stamford, was arrested on Sept. 18 at 10:14 p.m. on a charge of second-degree failure to appear. According to the report, Palencia turn himself in knowing there was a warrant for his arrest issued by state police stemming from an unspecified misdemeanor. Palencia's bail was set at $500 and he is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Sept. 27.

Jeff Stein, 55, of Sprite View Avenue, was arrested on Sept. 16 at 9:30 p.m. on a charge of disorderly conduct. According to the report, he was in an argument and allegedly pushed the victim. Stein was released on a promise to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 17.

Daryl Nistico, 35, of Norwalk, was arrested on Sept. 17 at 1:53 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence and failure to drive right. According to the report, police were informed that a car was being driven erratically on Wilton Road. Police found the vehicle at 205 Wilton Road with Nistico inside and the engine running. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. His bail was set at $1,000 and he is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 28.

Heron McDaniel, of 45 Jesup Road, was arrested on Sept. 17 at 9:35 a.m. on a charge of first-degree criminal trespass. According to the report, McDaniel had been banned from the Westport Public Library and warned not to come back. He returned to the library and was arrested. McDaniel's bail was set at $500 and he is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 27.

Melinda Betesh-Montrose, 36, of Weston, was arrested on Sept. 17 at 12:17 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence, failure to drive right, and other motor vehicle violations. According to the report, there was a reported hit and run accident in the area of 290 Main St. Police were informed that the vehicle was driving up the street with a flat tire. Officer found the vehicle, which was driven by Betesh-Montrose. She failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. Her bail was set at $500 and she is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 30.

Cynthia Donato, 42, of Post Road East, was arrested on Sept. 19 at 10:32 p.m. on a charge of driving under the influence and unsafe backing. According to the report, police saw Donato back up onto a sidewalk and hit a street sign on Saugatuck Avenue. She was pulled over and failed field sobriety tests. Donato's bail was set at $500 and she is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 29.

Milagros Astacio, 43, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Sept. 19 at 5:57 a.m. on a charge of sixth-degree larceny. According to the report, Astacio was pulled over when an officer saw that his license plate was invalid. A further check of the plate revealed that it was stolen. Astacio's bail was set at $500 and he is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 29.
