Smoke Detector Alerts Sleeping Residents of Fire

The fire department left the scene around 2 a.m. today.

The Westport Fire Department responded to a call for a house fire at 100 Partrick Road around 1 a.m. Tuesday with four engines and a ladder truck.

While en route, firefighters learned the fire was out but the house was filled with smoke, according to a news release. When they arrived, firefighters checked the area that had burned — a small desk area with shelves — and found charring from the fire and a moderate smoke condition throughout the house. Firefighters used fans to remove the smoke and thermal imaging cameras to verify that the fire had been extinguished.

The house, which was occupied, was under renovation at the time of the fire. Homeowners who were asleep at the time were notified of the fire by smoke detectors and used a fire extinguisher.
