Update: Two Arrested on Burglary Charges

A pair of alleged car thieves were apprehended early Friday morning.

A pair of Vermont residents was arrested early Friday morning after they were caught allegedly stealing from unlocked vehicles parked on private driveways. The pair reportedly stole GPS units, iPods and other items.

Westport police received a report at approximately 1 a.m. that a male and female were walking in the area of Kings Highway North, according to a police press release. Officers partrolled the area and saw a vehicle attempting to leave. When the alleged thieves were pulled over, they ran away on foot. Both were caught caught soon after and the missing items were recovered.

According to police, three residents have confirmed that their vehicles were broken into. The investigation is ongoing to determine four other victims whose items were recovered by police.

Anyone living in the northwest section of Westport who thinks that their vehicle may have been broken into or had items removed is asked to contact the Westport Police Department at 203-341-6000.

Earl Rosen IV, 25, of Richmond, Vt., and Geneva Milne, 20, of Jericho, Vt., were each charged with three counts of third-degree burglary, one count of conspiracy to commit a crime and one count of third-degree larceny. Bail was set at $75,000 each and both are scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 23.

This story has been updated with the latest charges for the suspects. Earlier today, they were charged with seven counts of third-degree burglary, which has since been reduced.
