Westport Fire, Bobby Q's Dedicate Drive to Bridgeport Firefighters

Westport firefighters need your support.

Each summer, Bobby Q's along with the band "Lost in the Flood" have held a fundraising dinner to support the Westport Firefighter's Benevolent fund – the charity arm of the department that donates to a number of Westport causes.

This year things are different with the recent tragic loss of two of Bridgeport Fire's bravest. At the suggestion of the Westport firefighters, all the funds raised at Bobby Q's event this Saturday will be given to the relief funds established for the Bridgeport firefighter's surviving family members.

"We hope Westporters will rise to the occasion," Assistant Chief Andrew Kingsbury said. " It's a fun night with great food and music, and a terrific way for our residents to support the Bridgeport Fire Department in their time of loss. The fire service is a family and we've just lost two of our own"

Bobby Q's and "Lost in the Flood" have been holding this annual event for many years, with the proceeds going to the Westport Firefighter's Benevolent. The Benevolent uses the money to support a number of Westport non-profits, such as the Center for Senior Activities, Westport Soccer Association, the CLASP homes among many others. While the Benevolent is not connected with the Firefighter's union, IAFF Local 1081, the union has made a significant donation to the Bridgeport firefighters fund.

The event will take place this Saturday night at Bobby Q's Barbeque and Grill, 42 Main Street, Westport, and will feature "Lost in the Flood" performing the best of "The Boss" – Bruce Springsteen.
