Westport Police Arrest Three New Yorkers on Fraud Charges

A 19-year-old attempted to cash fraudulent checks at two Westport TD banks.

The Westport Police Department responded to TD Bank on Main Street last week for a report of a woman attempting to cash a fradulent check, according to a police report.

When police arrived they discovered Angela Scott, 19, of the Bronx, N.Y., had come to Westport with two men who were driving a gold-colored Toyota. Police located the Toyota in Parker Harding Plaza. An investigation showed that Scott had tried to cash another fraudulent check at the Saugatuck Branch of TD Bank about an hour before she made the same attempt at the Main Street location. Scott left the Saugatuck Branch when managers began to check out her attempted transaction. Police arrested Scott on charges of forgery and attempt to commit larceny. The two men in the Toyota were also arrested. Tyshaun Antonio, 21, of New York, N.Y., was arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit forgery and larceny.  Anthony Warner, 22, of the Bronx, N.Y., was arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit forgery and larceny and tampering with physical evidence. A $50,000 bond was set for each of the suspects. They are scheduled to appear in court Jan. 19.

  • Lance Barrett, 37, of Sherman was arrested Jan.6 on charges of criminal trespass and interfering with an officer. Barrett was asked by the director of the Gillespie Center at 45 Jesup Road to leave for a violation of the rules, but he refused to leave. As officers were escorting him out, he became combative, according to the police report.
  •  Anthony Castelluccio, 28, of Westport was arrested on a charge of driving with a suspended license. A $250 bond was set and he is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 19.
  • Anna Just, 23, of Darien was arrested Jan. 8 on charges of credit card theft, forgery and larceny. According to a police report, Just turned herself in when she learned police had a warrant for her arrest. Just was an employee at the Westport GAP, at 69 Main St., and was the dressing room attendant on Dec. 10 when a customer inadvertently left her purse in one of the changing rooms. Just removed one of the woman's credit cards before returning the purse to the woman. Just also used that credit card to make purchases in Westport, Norwalk, Stamford and Darien. A $5,000 bond was set and she is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 19.
  • Paul Nikolis, 25, of Westport was arrested Jan. 8 on charges of issuing a bad check and larceny. Westport police responded to Norwalk Court to serve arrests warrants on Nikolis who was already in custody at that facility. The bad check charge stems from a September complaint that Nikolis issued two checks to a friend when his account was closed. The larceny charge stems from an October case where Nikolis allegedly duped a friend into giving him $200 in return for a fraudulent check, according to the report. Nikolis remains in custody.
  • George Benedetto, 65, of Westport was arrested Jan. 8 on a charge of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. 
  • Aundreena McGibney, 48, of Westport  was arrested Jan. 10 on a DUI charge.
  • William Court, 21, of Norwalk was arrested Jan. 10 on a DUI charge. According to the police report, Court was involved in a one-car accident on Indian Hill Road. He was found walking away from the scene. When questioned, Court was disoriented and unsteady on his feet, according to the report. He was not injured, but failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. Court refused to take a breath tests, but during the booking process, admitted to have smoked PCP, according to the report.
