A concerned citizen reported to police late Wednesday a possible drunk driver in the parking lot of McDonald's on Post Road East.

Responding officers found a car improperly parked across two spaces in the McDonald's lot. There were also food wrappers found on the ground near the car, according to the report.

Two people were in the vehicle -- a female in the driver's seat and a male passenger. Police detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the woman's breath while speaking to her and noted her speech was slurred, according to the report.

The passenger told police that he had driven to McDonald's, but the male was "significantly taller" than the woman, and the height of the driver's seat and its proximity to the steering wheel suggested the woman had been operating the vehicle, police said.

The operator -- identified as Deborah Vertucci, 62, of Roseville Road -- failed to perform field sobriety tests to standard, according to the report. She was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where she submitted to a breath test. Her blood alcohol content reportedly measured at .115, nearly twice the legal limit.

Vertucci was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and was released after posting a $500 cash bond. Her car was towed from McDonald's and police seized Vertucci's license, according to the report.
