Himes Smiles and Dials at Wilton Democratic Headquarters

Himes, who lives in Greenwich, is currently serving his second term and is a member of the House Committee on Financial Services.

Congressman Jim Himes (D-4th) — who on Wednesday squared-off in the first of three debates with Republican challenger Steve Obsitnik — worked the phone bank for a few hours last Monday, Oct. 1, at Wilton Democratic Headquarters, 143 Old Ridgefield Road.

Joining him was Carolanne Curry, a Westport resident who is running for incumbent State Senator Toni Boucher's (R-26th) seat in Hartford, and about a half dozen volunteers.

Himes, who lives in Cos Cob, is seeking his third term and is a member of the House Committee on Financial Services.

During the visit to Democratic Headquarters, which officially opened on Sept. 28, Jody Marcell, a member of the Wilton Democratic Town Committee who was overseeing operations, told Patch that there was no need to run phone lines into the vacant storefront, as all volunteers are using prepaid cell phones issued by the Democratic National Committee.

"That's how a lot of these calls are being made today... wireless," she said.

Marcell said later in the month volunteers working on President Obama's reelection campaign would also be using space in the storefront to call voters.
