P&Z Expanding Hours for Public Inquiries

Office will be open to the public every weekday for three hours.

The Planning & Zoning Department will expand dedicated staff hours for public inquiries and make dedicated staff available to the public Monday through Friday.

Starting Nov. 18 staff will be on hand from 9 a.m. to noon to answer zoning questions, discuss potential new projects, review generator applications and other similar activities that do not require a zoning permit be issued at that time, according to Westport Planning & Zoning Director Laurence Bradley.

Currently, there are only dedicated staff hours for public inquires three hours a week.

On Wednesdays there will still be “walk-in” hours during which the public may obtain zoning permits for smaller scale residential projects. Large-scale residential projects and all commercial projects may obtain zoning permits by appointment only, according to Bradley.

“This will give the public more access to our staff for items such as project inquiries, generator sign offs and general zoning questions,” said Bradley. “The public will now have the ability for three hours each day, Monday thru Friday to get their zoning questions answered.”
