Westport Veteran Inducted into CT Veterans Hall of Fame

William F. Vornkahl III was President of the Westport Veterans Council and Chairman of the Veterans Day Parade.

Westport resident William F. Vornkahl III was honored and inducted into the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame.  Vornkahl III served in the United States Army, and has worked as the President of the Westport Veterans Council and as Chairman of the Veterans Day Parade.

“Mr. Vornkahl has sacrificed so much for his country. It was an honor to pay tribute to a man who exemplifies service to his community and country and who helps keep the memory of all Veterans alive,” said State Senator Toni Boucher (R-Wilton).

Vornkahl was presented with a citation from the Westport Delegation that read in part:

“The General Assembly congratulates you on this achievement and offers its gratitude for your outstanding service to our nation and to the town of Westport.” 

The Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame was established to increase the awareness of the lifetime contributions of veterans after completion of honorable military service. Each year the committee selects at least 10 inductees from applications received from across the state and nation, according to a release by the Veteran’s Hall.
